Matching Busy Patterns
& Transitioning Seasons.
I could seriously wear sandals into November and I do. Every by the book fashion-snob would scream its a big no, no. But I do what I want and on warmer days I still wear open-toed shoes with the respective layers. Layering is key in transitioning between seasons and dressing for cooler weather in general. Simpler layering is the best way to keep your casual looks stylish but still laid back.
a few suggestions:
- Combining two patterns is a sure fire way to look fashion forwardly bold and fun.
- I think stripes are the neutral of patterns, its safe to say they go with any pattern.
- The most important
ruleelement to be conscious of is the size proportions of the patterns you are mixing : (there are no such things as rules in fashion, even though they are meant to be broken, they are mere tips). Ex. Balance a busier pattern with a more uniform one.
- To illustrate: I chose the medium sized polka dots and slightly smaller stripe patterns. I like to make the patterns different sizes to create contrast and then use color to make them match.
I used the colors gray and a tan/gold neutral with a coral pop. The bag and buttons are tan/gold and the shoes and shirt are in the gray silver family, so I used the multi-color metals necklace to bring all the colors together.
i'm wearing:
\\ WEBSTER MIAMI for target blazer // MOSSIMO long tee //
\\ MOSSIMO polka-dot pants // STUART WEITZMAN gladio sandals //
\\ TARGET necklace // MICHAEL KORS bedfors bag //
TALK TO ME ON:
