5 Things

March's five little things,

just get up & live.

I always love this month, I'm a little biased of course.  Not only is it my birthday month, it begins spring -well it is supposed to, but it also means festivities and fun will commence as soon as the snow melts.

These next two months are going to be perfectly organized chaos. Erin and I have been preparing for our big move and yet another striding leap towards our dreams and passions.

So take a look at our monthly five little relevant things from our month.  This is real life and this is our time. Ah, here it goes.

T h i s   S t .  P a t r i c k ' s   D a y,  I turned another year older.  2015 was the first year I didn't want to bar-hop with the parade, donned in all green, and ready for all the Jameson shots and debauchery. Instead, we ate delicious Indian food and went to chic speakeasy-style bars.  It was super cool, but still low key -is this a new me?  I've never actually felt older on the dawning of a birthday, this year I felt it.  This year marks so many new things for me, one of which is finally knowing who I am and what I want from life. My B-Day was a reminder of all that is happening this year and to all of the doors opening, adventure in the air, and more amazing little places to be visited like Dear Irving.

F i n a l l y,   g o t   t o   s e e  N e w   F o u n d  G l o r y  live!  "...The Needle on my Record player has been wearing thin, this record has been playing since the day you've been with him..." Jordan had a moon boot on and did not let a broken bone halt his energy. They were just as my 14-year old former self would have wanted. I sang, I bounced, and jumped and sang 'Dressed to Kill" on the top of my lungs.

W e   g o t   K E Y S  S S S ! ! We have  officially signed our lease in Brooklyn and have keys!  After much searching we found a neighborhood that we could not only afford, but that we would actually have room in, be safe, and close to the train. Wait, I can afford to not live in the hood?  I'm ready to be a city girl and I'm focusing on that and the promise of new adventures and opportunities. Otherwise, all the anxiety of finding out if I was accepted to FIT begins to make me overanalyze.  Everything is a GO, I'm just waiting on the final verdict from school and I can breathe again.  Any day now.

I have learned to  e m b r a c e  the fact that my  g u i l t y  p l e a s u r e  of watching  t e e n dramas will never fade.  I simply can not even deny that a pint of Steve's Ice Cream and a night to binge watch any of these shows (Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, Dawson's Creek, Boy Meets World, Pretty Little Liars, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer) sounds awesome and I don't care what you think.  I don't know if it's the cheesy one-liners, impossible love, coming of age, or beautiful people -but I just can't get enough. Whatever -I'm allowed just one 'silly girl' pass, just one.

T h e   b e a n i e; we have had a deep, healthy relationship all winter, but it is time for the beanie to be put to rest. It has kept my head stylishly warm, during the last few months of frigid weather we have endured -but that time should be coming to an end after today. We can only hope, it's freakin' April after all!

Cappuccinos
I have many favorites of the coffee and espresso variety but you can’t go wrong with a classic. Cappuccinos have been my favorite go-to espresso treat for the past month and I’m definitely not sick of them.

B r o o k l y n Bound
For years now it has been understood that Cass and I would try to lease an apartment together in Brooklyn while we both finish our undergrad degrees. Well, after many years of this we are finally doing it! After looking at many apartments (some good and some not so much) we found one that will work perfectly for us and it even has a closet room ;) To say the least we are ecstatic to embark on this next chapter of our lives together.

A strong f i n i s h

I’m currently in the midst of my last semester of my associate’s degree and I can not be more excited to finally move on to a bachelor’s degree. For me, this will be one of many milestones in my academic adventures, but nonetheless I’m amped. The hard part here is actually staying focused in my current classes so I can finish the semester with super strong grades. Ughh- easier said than done. Wish me luck.

Learning to C h e f

I have never felt at home in the kitchen and I’ve never had a real desire to cook either. It just always seemed so time-consuming for something that is going to take like 10 minutes to consume. All that energy spent, for such a short period of gratification. Apparently, learning to cook for oneself is essential to survival in the adult world. With much apprehension, I’ve been forcing myself to cook meals so that I can maybe one day master the art. It’s kinda working and I can now cook flavorful, well-seasoned, edible food!
