I always try very hard to keep my products all natural in my daily habits. All natural soaps, face washes, paraben and sulfate free shampoos and hair products, as well as one way to take that a step further is using tea tree oil in its many applications.
Apothecary brand Tea tree oil is a great substitute for more things than you know. In all honesty, I don't even use it to its fullest. But it is by far my favorite treatment for breakouts and bouts of acne.
I have used it as an antiseptic and in the healing process for piercings, but I regularly use it in place of an astringent. When you use it on your face as a toning astringent, I would suggest diluting it with 100% pure witch hazel, you want this to be 4 parts witch hazel and only one part tea tree oil.
Though when using it as an astringent or in treatment of breakouts, I suggest diluting it with water, about half and half. You want to do this because, by itself, tea tree oil can be too intense and will dry out the treated area causing a problem.

Some other great uses of tea tree oil: acne, cuts, scrapes, burns, insect bites, it also works well to aid in treatment of a cough, bronchial congestion, and pulmonary immflamuation.
